Has the day of the online forum passed. Did social media play a huge role in this. The answer to these two questions is very simple from my point of view. No, the forum days are not over yet. Social media had a big hand in how forums are looked at today.
When I got into making websites, a long time ago. At least 10-12 years ago or more. Most sites were static. Just a page with info on it and no way to interact. That, over time, changed a great deal. Forum sites became very popular. They were dynamic and interactive.
You could build a website for more people to interact with. They could chat and discuss relevant issues pertaining to the content of the forum. New friendships were formed and communities were born. This was the start of the forum site as we know it. Lets start from the beginning.
With all the people on the road today it gets tougher and tougher to drive. Drunk driving, drug driving, distracted driving and older people driving. Man it gets tough. If you don't run into one of these people on the road at some point your a lucky person. Young people are not so much into drunk driving as they are distracted driving and drug driving. Older people are into drunk driving or are just to old to be on the road.
Giving support, is there anything better. This is one aspect of the internet that I have loved. I mean gettin right in there and helping people out. Some people must think I am nuts. I'll tell ya what does it for me. Being able to give to another person the ability to relax and enjoy themselves. After all, that's what most of us are here for, right. We don't come to the net to get frustrated or angry. This is a leisure time activity (for most). |
