I have tried numerous time to get version 1809 update installed, gets to about 75 to 80 % done and freezes.

Any solutions.. Gateway Desktop

Hi Ronald

I had this issue as well, I used the Windows 10 updater stand-alone tool. You could also download the update and burn it to a DVD and update that way.

I would backup any important files before you do an upgrade.

Thanks Nesa.. I'll try the update tool first..

Used the update tool, does the same as, looks for update and pre downloads.

I rebooted and it starts the install, reboots a couple of times, at 75% it froze, I clicked shut down, I clicked start, start to finish installing, as usual hits 81% and freezes again.. I clicked shut down, I clicked start, it now reverts back to previous version of window 10..

I don't think this update will ever go in, been two days now trying, just won't install, takes to long and freezes..

There has to be a reason though. When I get home I will do a search. Unless someone beats me to it.

I think I may have a bigger problem, Windows update version 1803 failed to install sometime ago. I just noticed this..

But when I try to install 1803 it goes to 1809 instead, I'm installing 1809 right now. Have to take the dog for a walk in the deep snow, will see how it is when I get back.

So far I have wasted almost two days trying to get the update in, fails each time, I have followed others advice and each one has failed..

Until there is a proven way to get this update in, I have no more tries in me..Takes roughly two hours each time..

Perhaps it needs to do all updates sequentially (do not skip any failed update)
Can you restore it to just before it attempted the first update that failed?
Get it back to that point and then run the windows update troubleshooter.

If you know the actual KB number for the update, you may be able to manually download it from here:

One update is in. I had to stop last night at 1 am I couldn't see anything.. It takes roughly close to 2 hours to download and install, this is including reverting back to the previous version..

I will try today to get 1803 installed, if 1803 goes in I might be able to then install 1809..

Chen's link is excellent, man I got that one saved..

That is a good link. :) Saved as well.

I tried about 10 different 1803 downloads, none compatible with my computer..
